FUSE BOARD UPGRADES

30 years ago, when houses were installed with this style fuse board, a kitchen may have had a washing machine, a lounge may have had a television and each room of the house may have had only one socket.
Nowadays we all have dishwashers, microwaves, tumbledryers, computers and televisions in each room complete with freeview boxs, games consoles, just to begin.

Over the years additions are made to the electrical installation of houses often by non qualified electricians, adding extra sockets and lights to already fully loaded fuse boards. When we upgrade fuse boards to new consumer units each circuit gets its own circuit breaker at a rating suitable for the cable / equipment being used.

RCD protection is now incorporated into all of our consumer units giving total protection against earth faults throughout the whole house.

This old style fuse board is common in many houses. We strongly recommend that any installation with this age fuse board should be upgraded.
All of the new consumer units we install are Crabtree 17th edition compliant complete with dual RCD protection.
A full installation certificate is issued with every fuse board upgrade and the local council building control are notified.
